Gold Fingers
Gold Fingers (Edge Connector Plating)
Gold fingers are gold-plated connector pads along the edge of a PCB, typically used for plug-in connections such as PCI, ISA, or memory module interfaces.
Requirements
- Surface finish must be ENIG — only with ENIG finish are the fingers gold-plated
- With HASL finish, edge connectors receive HASL plating instead of gold
- Gold thickness options: 1µ" (thin) to 30µ" (hard gold)
Design Guidelines
- Gold finger length: 4mm minimum
- Finger width: 0.5mm minimum
- Spacing between fingers: 0.5mm minimum
- Keep solder mask 0.5mm away from gold finger area
- Beveling (chamfer) is available at 20°, 30°, or 45° angles
